The Benefits of Multimedia in Education

The use of multimedia in education has become one of the effective tools in the teaching-learning process. From the traditional way of using chalkboards and chalk, the teaching method has evolved with the use of multimedia such as video, animation, graphics and more that makes learning more constructive and interactive.

The ability of multimedia to bring images, text, sounds, animations and videos makes it more interesting for learners as most of them are more visual. Students also became creative enough in their own ways through the use of multimedia in making projects. It increases learning effectiveness. It also frees teachers from many routine of teaching such as making visual aids; the use of presentations is a much easier way to do it.

The use of multimedia in education is sometimes time-consuming. In Philippine education setting it is also expensive. Not all schools in our country uses the multimedia and not all have experience how to use it in a classroom setting. It also requires special hardware and sometimes, it is not always compatible.

The use of multimedia in instruction allows students to express their own ideas, act as designers in computer-based projects, and creates meaningful learning experiences.
